BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WZTV) — A 12th grader from Brentwood has helped raise thousands of dollars for charity by doing what he loves most: golfing.
Nolan Griggs switched to online classes at George Washington University Online High School after deciding he wanted to take golf more seriously. The young philanthropist is now a part of the American Junior Golf Association where they raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Snedeker Foundation, and the AJGA’s ACE Grant Program.
“There are other kids who aren’t as fortunate as I have been so being able to give people who want to play golf the money to do so feels great,” he said.
Nolan says moving to online classes has played a key role in his journey to help others.
“Every teacher is so eager to help everyone. After and before class the teachers will engage with you, rather than just running through the course work and making it completely independent,” he said. “When I’m doing work I really feel like I am engaging with the work. It doesn’t really feel like an online school.”
