TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — The Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy wanted to make sure that its students got to experience a special night like most other high school students.
Over 92 juniors and seniors from around the state gathered in Chandler, a location halfway between Oklahoma City and Tulsa to accommodate both metros, for a “2000s throwback” themed dance.
Students dressed up and danced to a variety of songs from 2000s hits to current favorites.
“Just because classes are online doesn’t mean we never meet in person,” said OVCA Head of School Audra Plummer. “Prom is a cultural experience for teens, and we want our students to make the same special memories as their peers who attend in-person classes.”
“Almost all of my school friends live in different parts of Oklahoma, so it’s been so much fun to come together to experience prom together.” said Aslyn Cox, student at OVCA. “Getting to dress up, take pictures and dance all night is a memory I’ll keep forever.”
